A beautiful city of lakes - Udaipur
"We visited Udaipur in December 2015 and regret to have scheduled only 2 days for this beautiful place. If you really want to enjoy the place - plan for a minimum 4 days. The most beautiful was the Ranakpur Jain Temple - not to be missed, in fact you can spend one entire day in its tranquillity. The boating to Jag Mandir Palace was memorable with the destination (The Jag Mandir Palace) being one of the best places to visit and you can also plan your dream wedding here, if you can afford ;). The boating charges which are 300 before 3 pm Increases to 700 in the evening - so plan your visit accordingly. Do not miss the show at the Bagore ki Haveli with the cute Rajasthani performances of approx an hour.
The City palace and Jagdish templewere mesmerising. Could only cover these places (including Kumbalgarh Fort, Lake Pichola and Lake Fateh Sagar). Missed Shrinathji, Haldighati, Eklinji, Saheliyon ki bari and Chittorgarh which I promise to cover in my next trip to this beautiful city of the Lakes. The food at Nataraj Restaurant was very good. And the local Rajasthani food at Shipagram (Mela) was amazing at a very cheap price, must try however didn't really find the Mela as good and it seemed to be for the localities.

Venice of The East-Udaipur
"We started our trip from New Delhi to Udaipur through train at 09:30 p. M. And reached by 11:30 a. M. In the morning. Hotel arrangements were already made and we checked-in in Moti Mahal Hotel. The first place we visited was Neemach Mata Temple which is located near Fateh Sagar. It is also known as Vaishno Devi of Udaipur. It is believed to be built in 17th century. It has a walking distance of around 1 Km through stairs but this was nothing in front of our enthusiasm.
Next, we went to Ambrai Ghat which is located on the bank of Pichola Lake. It is directly opposite to City Palace which is one of the largest palace in Udaipur. A simple conclusion one can make from Ambrai Ghat is that it is an absolute delight for photographers. It gives a magnificent view at sunset. Pichola Lake was next on our list. Pichola Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes of Rajasthan. The beauty of Lake Pichola attracts people from all over the world. One can undeniably say for Pichola that once, if you see this lake, you would definitely fall in love with it. One interesting thing about Lake Pichola is that it was mentioned by Rudyard Kipling in his Letters of Marque (1899) as told by the tour guide. Overall, trip to Pichola Lake is incomplete without a boat ride. Sunset view of the lake completely justifies Udaipur as Venice of the East.
Doodh Talai is another tourist attraction of City Udaipur. Doodh Talai is a small lake, that adores the south-east direction of Pichola Lake. There is also a beautiful garden near Doodh Talai. Musical fountain shows have also made this sunset point popular. After daylong sight-seeing on Pichola Lake, we concluded with a sunset view from Doodh Talai.
How can one visit such a beautiful city and not eat? One very best place to get street food is long lanes of food stalls on Sukhadia Circle. Natraj Dining Hall also provides a taste of 'Ghar Ka Khana'. Daal Bati and Poha are like national breakfasts of the city.

Udaipur - the white city
"Undeniably, the term ' white city ' given to Udaipur, goes beyond the conventional conception of the colour, and the history stands as a testimony that the colour has expanded its horizons far beyond one can ever imagine. Not only the entire city is painted in white, but also therevered rajput's rulers of the mewar region have never let a 'stain ' of dishonour mar the pure character of their motherland, by compromising her pride and honour in times of national adversary. Founded in 1559, by maharana udai singh ii, Udaipur is a home to some spectacular places of interest, which encourages you to explore the city even more. The most notable one's are :-city palace, saheliyon ki bari,Biological Park P lake pichola, moti magri, monsoon palace also known as sajjan garh( gives a bird's eye view of the entire city)Apart from the city palace, there is a crystal gallery near it, a must see.
Tips :- do spend time in places like the city palace and saheliyon ki bari. Take the help of local guides. Beware of pickpockets in the city palace. While sightseeing, keep yourself hydrated and wear adequate winter wear, even during daytime. Entry fee is taken in some places. Also a fee is taken to take pictures and video in the city palace.
A maximum of three days is required to tour the entire city. Avoid rush hours sightseeing places. Watch the sunset in lake pichola, with the lake palace.
Rajasthan, city of dreams & awesome forts
"I had the chance to visit udaipur 3-4 times mostly due to work but I was lucky that at each time I could combine my work with a little pleasure as well. Although peak tourist season is the winter season however I found udaipur the most beautiful during the rains.. The must visit places are the pichola lake(don't miss the boat ride), fatehsagar lake(along with the water scooter ride and the kulhad ki coffee), monsoon palace better known as sajjangarh(must see the sunset here) or if you have 2 days you must also see the sunset from the karni mata temple (added attraction the ropeway ride) as the view of the lake is the best from here. In the city do visit city palace, jagdeesh mandir near the palace gate (awesome temple), sukhadiya circle, saheliyon ki badi. Dinner at ambrai restaurant with the well lit up palace in the background will remain in your memory forever. In addition to this a 1/2 day tour to shreenathji temple is also a must do thing while in udaipur. On your way back you can see Eklingji and haldi ghati as well.. Don't miss the gulab sharbat (chaitri gulab) from here which is better than roohafza. If having an extra day you can do kumbhalgarh as well, I haven't been there so can't write much about the place.
Re live the era-Udaipur!
"It is a perfect getaway from a busy life and re live the kingdom era. It is filled with tourists but still soothing, fun and peaceful. The beauty of lake specially in the evening is stunning, romantic, soothing and rejuvenating. The lake and surrounded palaces, ghats glow in the evening and the reflection in the lake makes it majestic. It instantly refreshes and recharge u it u reach the destination after sun set. Historic building all around makes feel like u entered in a different era. If u are going to enjoy boat ride do it during or after sunset it is super duper. If u have kids or elders they can also enjoy camel and horse riding around the lake and re live the childhood.
Fatehsagar lake, city palace and other palaces are a must visit to see and feel indian heritage and history. One can easily get amused by the architectural beauty and royal history the palaces are well restored and well maintained. City lake palace charges 450rs. Per person, 150rs. Car parking and if u want to click photos camera ticket is 250rs. Rs(all charges for indian tourists for foreigners entry fees is different).
View of city of udaipur from the city lake palace is awesome some old paintings and glass work in the palace is must see. It takes minimum 3-4 hrs. To visit the palace so do keep some water and lite snacks if u have kids or elder with u. Wear comfortable clothes & footwear as in day time Udaipur is still a little hot in winters as well. Do not forget to wear a sun block during the day time.
In the evening romantic lake side dinner is must. The best place is Ambrai restaurant in amet haveli. A classy restaurant. The view, food and ambiance is romantic, soothing and pleasant(pls do prior reservation). If you don't get table there other near by restaurant are also good option and are much cheaper." - Mukesh Pandey

Pichola Lake is one of the most beautiful and picturesque lakes of Rajasthan, India. Located in the heart of the city, Pichola Lake is the oldest and one of the largest lakes of Udaipur. In 1362, the beautiful lake was built by Pichhu Banjara during the ruling period of Maharana Lakha. Talking about the dimensions of Pichhola Lake, it is extended to 3 miles in length, 2 miles in width and has depth of 30 feet.
The beauty of this lake has not separated anyone to attract towards it. The lake looks more enchanting with its scenic surroundings.
