History Of Ujjain:- 
Ujjain is a historical city of Central India, located in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh. Bounded by the holy waters of the Shipra River, it is considered as one of the seven major sites of Hindu pilgrimage.Ujjain is situated on the right bank of River Shipra. 
It is a very holy city for the Hindus a site for the triennial Kumbh Mela. According to Hindu scriptures, it was originally called Avantika. 
There is an interesting tale behind the sanctity of the city. It's origin is ascribed to the mythological legend of Sagar Manbthan (churning of the primordial ocean to discover the pot of nectar).

Mahakaleshwar (Mahakal) Temple:-
Mahakaleshwar temple is the most famous temple of Lord Shiva in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Mahakaleshawar temple is famous for Mahakaleshawar Jyotirling, it is one of the most famous jyotirling among all the 12. 
Mahakaleshwar temple is considered to be one of the most holiest temple located near the Rudra sagar Jhil (lake). Temple is built up inthe bhumija style of architecture. 
It is believed to be one of the most powerful incarnations of Lord Shiva. The most important Puja related to Mahakaleshwar temple is Bhasma arti. It takes place early in the morning around 4 a.m. A positive energy is there in temple which makes feel anyone somethingspecial in the air and surroundings.

Kal Bhairav Temple:-
Ujjain is the city of miracles, every day a new miracle happens here. Kal Bhairava Temple is the temple of Lord Bhairava situated in Bhairavagarh of Ujjain and gives a sense of peace after visiting. It is 8 km away from the main city. Shiva in this temple of Ujjain dwells in his Bhairava format. 
It is a common believe that Lord Kal Bhairava loves to have Liquor as dainty therefore it is plated to him. Also Kal Bhairava is known for removing planetary barriers. It is also a belief that Kal Bhairava has a boon of being worshiped before the Lord Shiva. 

Mangalnath Temple:-
Mangal Nath Temple is one of the famous temples of Ujjain. According to the ancient records it is believed that it is place of birth of the planet Mars. Mangalnath Temple has a vital importance in terms of Jyotish as meridian passes through the city of Ujjain.
Mangalnath Temple is also famous for the bhaat (rice) pooja . Bhaat Pooja is specially taken into consideration for those peoples who have some flaws in their kundli related to planet mars. It is also believed that whatever wish you make here comes true. In Mangal Nath Temple planet mars is worshiped in the form of Shiv Ling

Shipra River:- 
The river Shipra is one of the holiest rivers in India. The most popular ghat of Shipra River is “Ram ghat”. Ram ghat is the most ancient ghat of the river Shipra. During the Kumbh Mela or Sihasth which held after every 12 years, people use this ghat for bathing as they believe it is the sanctified ghat of the river.
 Ramghat is 2 km from Ujjain Railway station and 56 km from Indore. Ramghat has a vital importance in the history of Shipra River and Ujjain city. It will take a time of 5-10 minutes to reach to reach there from station.

Harsiddhi Temple:-
Harsiddhi Temple is one of the most famous shakti peeth among all the shakti peeths of our country. It is located in Ujjain near Shipra River. The idol of Mata Harshiddhi is wonderful and beautiful. It gives a Devotional emotion after vision of God. 
In temple there are 3 Goddess one on top of another. The 3 Goddess are Annapurna, Mahalakshni and Mahasarswati. It is believed that King VikramAditya was a great devotee of Harsidhhi Mata. Outside the temple there are two pillars are there in pin shape which when are lighted gives a wonderful look due to it’s lit. 


Bade Ganeshji Temple:-
Bade Ganeshji Temple is one of the famous temples of Ujjain. It is known by the name Bade Ganeshji because in temple there is a big artistic idol of Ganeshji in the temple. It feels really great to have a vision of Lord Ganesha. It is approximately 1 km from Ujjain railway station and it is a few steps away from the Mahakaleshwar temple. 
There is a rule of learning astrology and Sanskrit in this temple. The temple opens at 5 am and closed at 7 pm. A large number of visitors come here for the darshan of elephant headed Lord Ganesha.
 

Chardham Temple:- 
Ujjain is famous for its temples and unique places. One of the most beautiful temples of Ujjain is Char Dham Temple. The reason of its popularity is that, it is a place where you can feel of visiting all the four Chardhams – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. It is located behind the Mahakaleshwar temple. 
The temple is open for visitors from morning 5 am to 9 pm in the night. There might me a change in timings during festivals. The distance between the Chardham Temple and railway station is about 11.882 kilometer. Any visitor can reach the temple by taking car or any means of transportation approximately in 30 minutes.


Sandipani Ashram:- 
Sandipani Ashram is the most ancient and one of the popular ashrams of Ujjain. It is named after the great Saint or Maharishi Sandipani. Maharishi Sandipani was the Guru of Lord Shri Krishna, Balram and Sudama.  
Within the Ashram there are temples which are dedicated to Lord Shiva and this temple is different from all other Lord Shiva’s temple because in this temple Nandi is standing in front of Lord Shiva.  
Gomati kund is also there in the ashram which is the source of water supply to the ashram from ancient times. Footprints are also there in the ashram and it is believed that these footprints are of Bhagwan Shri Krishna.

Nagda:-
Nagda, a small town is also about 50km far from Ujjain. Nagda has the largest factory of Birla all over India.

Get In Ujjain:-
Ujjain is well connected with rest of India by road and rail, but there is no airport in the city.The closest airport is in Indore and the distance between Indore and Ujjain is 52 Km. 

By Train:- Ujjain has direct trains for all the major cities of India, though some are very inconvenient and it's better to break journey from Bhopal. From Bombay "Awanitka express"(daily) and "Pune-Indore" express (thrice in week), from New Delhi "Hazarat Nizamuddin Intercity Express" and from Bangalore "Jaipur Mysore Express" are a few good leads. No direct train from Nagpur. 

By Road:- Ujjain is connected to nearby towns with very good roads compared to the rest of Madhya Pradesh. It is 52 km from Indore along the NH 3 toll road, and it takes less than an hour to cover the distance. Indore is in turn connected by Agra-Mumbai National Highway to rest of the India. 
The drive is scenic and punctuated by small villages on either side of the road. Stop by on the way to enjoy fresh guavas and corn. Its a must. it is a 4-lane highway with smooth drive. travel time is around 1 hr.
